Preditors range in size from about 1000 pounds to about 40 pounds with Varmints being only a few pounds as in Prairie Dogs. In different states the classification for some animals are different. In Colorado and Wyoming a Mountaion Lion or Puma is a licenses game animal where in Texas they are preditors shot on sight. The Gray for in the north would be considered a furbearer while Texas labels them a varming as well.
Arkansas, California and Colorado all have animals that fit in these catagories. Most stes today have some form of coyotes and in these 3 states Black bears are popular with Colorado having a huntable population of Mountaion Lions. California is much more restrictive with Mountaion Lions being a protected species in state out to have shot in another state and transported into California.
Witgh only a few Bear and encroaching coyotes expanding east annually only some varmints as crows believe it or not as varmints in migrating numbers will this catagory.
Georgia and Hawaii aren't known for the preditors or huntable varmmints but Idaho make up for them, Idaho has Wolfes, Mountaion Lions, Bears, Coyotes and probably some prarie Dogs to fill the Varmint grouping.
These 3 states all have coyotes in good numbers and as we see Coyotes move farther east we see a large strain of Couotes. In addition the popular red for inhabits these state where the coyotes have not taken over their territory and killed and ate the foxes as they have expanded their movement east.
Kansas, Kentucky all have huntable populations of Coyotes and foxes but for the rest of the preditors you will need to visit other states. Western Kansas does have Prfarie Dogs in areas that have been pasture for a long time. Cultivation and irrigation move prarie dogs out to the neighboring farms. Prarie dogs don't need water, they get their moisture by pulling out the plants they eat and eating the moisture laden roots.
